Where is Fla are you? |
| Sunshine. Orange juice. Other older people who are acting like they are in high school. |
| All year round my yard is blooming with stunning flowers most people only ever see pics of, I get 100+ fresh delicious mangoes every year, too many species of birds to count. I can walk in nature most days of the year, go to the beach any time I want. Where I live is pristine and quiet and has very little crime. My kids go to a school that's very diverse in every way, is public and good, without being a pressure cooker. If I want to go shopping or eating out I have some of the nicest malls in the world and every type of food nearby at all price points. People don't hate each other for their politics because it's so incredibly mixed it'd mean hating every other neighbor. I have my issues with Florida (mostly hurricane season and summer heat which is tough for me) but all this will make it hard to leave. |
| Being near the water. |
| Grew up in South Florida and will say that it has gotten even nicer in the last 10 years. People want to believe that all of Florida is MAGA land to make themselves feel better. We plan on snowbirding in SoFL during retirement for 6 months and a day each year, become tax residents and lead active lifestyles in nice winter weather. We are libs who don't need to live in a lib bubble to enjoy life. |

There are actually places in FL that is heavy on the politics. When I'm 80 I might want sticky, hot weather for six months of the year, but I'm not there yet. DC summers are bad enough. I hardly go outside in the summer. What good is so much sun for six months when you can't even go outside without getting bug bites and/or being sweaty within 30seconds of being outside. Spending most of my time in a mall is my idea of hell. |
Because they are brainwashed. They claim education is terrible in all of Florida but fail to even recognize the large flagship university is only $6k a year in annual tuition for Florida residents. That sounds like a state prioritizing education to me! |
| To answer OP's question, I can only think of the lack of state income taxes and the weather. I can't convince myself that's a good enough reason to move there. We do vacation there in the winter, and the people are basically hicks. |
|
I am so glad that so many people judge Florida- I don’t want it to get anymore crowded. I moved here 10 years ago after a lifetime in CC and DC, and it was the best decision for my family.
We live an outdoor life and we travel to the NE or Canada in the summer to escape the heat. We work from home and save so much money not living in DC that we can be non-retired snowbirds. |
Dumb people that who can not do math and think they are now rich because of no state income tax. Florida does have a good deal for students who attend instate colleges however that will not end well if the state sticks with Christian Nationalism into college curriculum. Healthcare workers and doctors leaving in droves. Good ones. Shands in Gainesville is having a hell of a time recruiting doctors especially for women. Home owners ins us threw the roof if you can get it at all My freedom crowd in a few years will be wanting services for kids that had measles or polio they will be non existent and it will be horrific. Public schools were never good. Now they really suck. One big storm away from losing everything but hey there is sunshine |
| It's one hell of a drug. |
And my friends all smell like weed or little babies. |
|
When kids are sick from measles, polio and other diseases Florida is going to be the best place to have moved to.
|
f me up florida!!! |
| I love South Florida. I want to move to Coconut Grove. Tampa has its good parts too. |
