Do you know parents who keep their kid low-carb?

I know several families like this. Once that kid starts going to birthday parties on their own, they will binge on cake and pizza to point of vomiting. Kids who don’t know when they will ever get the chance to eat sugar have no sense of satiety or moderation and will eat as much as they can, while they can.

I kept my friend company at her 11 year old daughter’s sleepover. There were twins there who were never allowed to have candy, juice, pasta, chips, sweets etc. We found the girls in the pantry eating potato chips, ice cream, and get ready for this - salted butter. After they left in the morning, we found melted chocolate chips, smashed cupcakes, and candy wrappers under the sheets and on the mattress where they had slept. My friend discovered later that the chocolate chips were from a canister in the pantry for baking. The candy wrappers were from leftover Halloween candy that had been forgotten about in the entry closet. They were definitely headed toward an eating disorder and it was sad to see.

But this is the opposite of a healthy, whole diet.
