“Lily-Rose Depp defends ‘raunchy’ sex scenes in ‘The Idol’: ‘We live in a highly sexualized world“

I assumed the reason for the scenes is to substantiate that these experiences were sufficiently intense to generate the “once in a generation” new music sound she was looking for inspiration to create. I personally like the “World Class Sinner” song more than any of the Tedros stuff. |

Here’s what she has to say:

I binge watched the first four episodes.
Wow. It’s just a step up from porn and not a very big step. I’m getting 50 shades of gray vibes. |

Spoiler alert.
I thought the ending was compelling. The abuser gets his comeuppance. But many of these people are deplorable on a Herculean scale. Arguably worse than low-level con Tedros. The musical crew is doing well now at the start of the tour, but what do we expect Jocelyn will do next; what are she and the management capable of? Could it be possible that, despite Tedros being such a loser, the crew was better off when he was in charge? |

I thought the show was better than the panning from the critics. Depp as Jocelyn was convincing and it’s a raw performance. The original music is awesome. The “family” of characters are insanely talented IRL.
I don’t think it glorified abuse; it opened the curtain on a type of abusive relationship that (unfortunately) isn’t uncommon. I found it interesting that she ended up as the powerful one in the relationship. She topped from the bottom - that was the whole point of the scene about the brush. Well done. |
No. While with Tedros they were homeless, sleeping in his nightclubs, and subject to his sexual perversions and abuse. Their talent will be used by the professional management leeches, but at least they will end up stars and conceivably make their own money. When they were with Tedros, Tedros was the star. |
Anyone see this?
