Why don’t people respect Tufts more?

WashU and Emory have multiples larger endowments, which might help them more.

Somehow the most academically respected schools in the country manage to be need blind. Most manage to be full need met. The very best are full need met without loans. It's hard to take a school that need full tuition students badly enough to be need aware when all of the schools they want to be compare themselves to are need blind

I’m not understanding how this relates to the quality of education and perception of the school though. I can see the socioeconomic diversity argument in that being in a bubble of U/UMC kids might be limiting, but what else?

The better schools in the NESAC are need blind, the better schools in Boston are need blind. It's just another thing that the really elite schools all have in common.

Because students compete to get into schools and schools compete to attract the best students. Need blind helps an institution compete for the best.

Needs blind: Williams, Amherst, Bowdoin, Hamilton, Middelbury. Needs aware: Tufts, Wesleyan, Colby bates, trinity , conn college

in 1990, Northeaster was a barely viable commuter school with a decent hockey team.

College is the only purchase where a generic product can more than a luxury product and people will still line up to defend the high cost

That is not true at all. It might have been a “commuter school” in the 1960’s, along with BC and BU and others, but so what? Most of DCUM would know nothing of Boston schools, if not for Google.

It was on my list of safeties. I got in along with everyone else I knew who applied. None of us had to attend
