| I would be annoyed by wasting money on the drink more than anything else. Water or whatever juice/soda is in the pantry should be fine. |

My 16y old kids have money from working over the summer, gifts, etc and if they choose to spend their money getting food when I have perfectly good food at home, that is their prerogative - but I am not funding it. We have had long conversations about spending/saving money and how that money could be better spent (they will be driving soon and expected to contribute to gas/insurance)
That being said, they can't drive yet, but can walk to several restaurants/fast food places near our house. I would say they get food 1-3x/week after school. I also want to know if they are not eating at home so I don't make a big dinner. |

My teens love to get take-out. We'll have a house full of food and they'll complain, "there's nothing here to eat!" Which actually means there's no Chipotle/Chik Fil A/Panda Express/Etc.
I'll treat them to takeout a fair number of times, and the cost is very high now. But they also go on their own (my college student will drive my HSer when he's home on breaks) and they have to pay for it themselves those times. My college student does appreciate the savings of a home-cooked meal and cooks a lot on his own in his college apartment. But my HSer would it take out just about every day if she could. |
I would imagine too that after a few years of restaurants and fast food places being with closed or limited eat-in dining, kids are making up for lost time. For well over a year in the DMV area, they couldn't even eat lunch together with friends in the school cafeteria. |
| Takeaway? WTF? If you are on DCUM, I assume you are in the US. We say take out. Get with it. |
I'm also Canadian and have never said takeaway once in my life. I say takeout. |
| Omg! It’s basically takeaway your money people! |
| Is your cooking terrible? |
This is immediately what I thought. |
