Mindy Kaling

I do find her IG persona a little confusing and a bit of a departure from what was funny and authentic about her first book of essays. But then - why shouldn't she get to be however she wants to be? She is smart, rich, and successful, and has obviously always wanted to be the beautiful popular girl so why should she deny herself the feeling of that if it's what makes her happy? If I had her resources I can't say I wouldn't be tempted.

Mindy Kaling is exactly why I always say beneath that 'Body positivity' nonsense lies bitterness, hypocrisy, and gaslighting . I'm sure you don't have to look hard to find some comments she might have made about loving her body and blah blah and, here we are . If she's happy , good for her but I wish some of you will stop pretending that there's some kind of virtue in being overweight .

Yeah, except she's not beautiful.

She didn't use weight loss medication, she has a trainer and as someone mentioned has prioritized her health since having her second child.

Just because someone has the means to lose weight and look amazing doesn't mean they used some miracle weight loss meds. YOU ARE JEALOUS.

And everyone knows DCUMommies are racist and hate south asian women. #sorrynotsorry we're super hot and more successful than you!

Uh ?

Wow. She looked a lot better when she was heavier. She is unrecognizable now.

I love her comedy. I think she looked a lot better with a little more weight on her. It seems like a lot of stars get addicted to the weight loss or something — they go from overweight to stick thin. I thought she looked good in the mindy project. If the camera adds 10 pounds, I wonder what she looks like in person.
This is coming for a former size 0 who always wanted to have some curves. Trust me, men don’t actually think that stick thin is attractive. I think overweight women buy into the industry hype selling stick thinness as the desired model — but it’s a lie perpetrated by people trying to make money on weight loss and sell fashion that is easier to tailor for no curves. Most men prefer something in between fat and skinny, and they will pick boobs and overweight over skinny with no boobs every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

She is painfully unfunny and seems really mean girl pretentious. Serious 'I am better than you' vibes.

You're right on the pretentious . There was a time when she couldn't or wouldn't stop trying to find a way to inform that she went to Dartmouth. So cringe and yet so unsurprising. The gatekeepers will scream racism but that disposition of hers is so on-brand for her cultural background .

Nope not racist at all.

So basically, overweight people have to either be a) bitter and hypocritical or b) openly hate themselves? No other options?

Guys calm down. She's just taking her IG pictures from a crazy angle and maybe editing them. Pictures of from Oct 2022 show that she looks to have lost a good amount of weight but she still has the same curves. She's about back to where she was in her early 30s. She may have done this with weight loss drugs (not unlikely) but it's not as dramatic a transformation as it appears. She's just really good at posing and dressing in a way that accentuates her figure.

Yikes. You have your head in the sand.

You're 100% jealous that she has access to medicine that you can't afford.

DP, but I’m annoyed at her and all the celebrities for their off-label use of a drug directly leading to supply issues for actual patients.

Sure, but it’s not like it’s a life-saving drug. Save your annoyance!

DP. The main medical indication -- not just cosmetic -- for Ozempic/semaglutide is to reduce blood sugar levels in adults with Type II diabetics, and it has been shown to reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, and even death.

We treat adult diabetics at my institution. It can be a game changer for them, and it has few side effects. Alas, we are having trouble treating our patients with this life-saving drug because it is so popular right now.

Who said anything about hating themselves ? Wrapping yourselves under the body positivity umbrella and acting as if decades of verifiable science showing the nefarious effects of excess weight on one's health should be ignored because 'you love yourself ' . Weird take .
