This. And, also, a good athletic and social experience in a positive and supportive environment. |
| My DS was recruited in middle school. Still had to go through an admissions process for the 3 schools that wanted him. We went with the school that was in contact with him the most. It helped that they’re a strong academic school. My advice - if no one has reached out, contact the coaches directly. Invite them to a game or 2. Go to the athletics page on their website for contract info. Good luck |
I think the PP might have been trying to say that current students at STA do not repeat grades at STA. Of course kids coming from other schools to STA will repeat a grade, although it's usually for academic reasons and not necessarily to be bigger and stronger for sports. |
Your child was contacted out of the blue by three schools? |
It wasn’t out of the blue. My DS works hard on his sport, and is a great student. Others on his team were recruited as well. |
Lol from middle school? It does not matter for boys till after puberty. Seriously a good athlete in 8th does not mean anything 11/12th grade. Saw this at my private school. |
If he was at mater dei, he could be 16 or 17. |
It’s not so much about good athlete as athlete with potential. I’ve consistently been amazed at how good coaches are at spotting potential. |
I know a kid that was contact by over 100 HS before he even got to 8th grade. |
Nobody is 16 at Mater Dei. It is possible they turn 15 in the 8th grade, but there are no kids older than that. |
