Exactly. How would ANY parent ALLOW this?!? Immediately FIRE and REPORT any doctor who suggests you leave your child with him. |
Why would it take a year to arrest the perp? |
I was wondering that, too. Eerily, I had work done there 2 years ago and a male assistant (don't know if it was the same guy) was trying really hard to ease my anxiety. He kept offering me nitrous and he rubbed my shoulder. I told him no and, when he stepped out of the room, I told/asked the female assistant not to leave me alone with him. I think the surgeon running the practice could be sued. The office was chaotic and many of the staff were unprofessional. I went to another practice for follow up care. The guy made my skin crawl at a time when I was already vulnerable. |
Find a new dentist your gut is telling you that why in the world would you come on social media for this who cares if he’s on the top doctor list, there is one Florida who raped women in another state. Stop relying on media. |
| There are studies that show when the parents are not present, the child may be less likely to use the parents as an excuse to act out. ie they see mom so they cry out thinking mom will let them off the hook. some pedo offices do this and some don't, it all depends on the doc. |
| OP, is this dentist in upper NW off Wisconsin? |
Female or male? |
Only the dentists who have zero bedside manner will try to quieten 3 year olds with fear by isolating them from their parents. |
| Some offices started this during Covid because it’s often easier *on them* if the parents aren’t there and now they can use Covid as an excuse. It’s the same as the vets offices that still won’t allow pet owners to come in for exams and instead make you wait in the car. It’s easier *on them* for so many reasons if you’re not there. So do some places do it, yes, is it normal, no. You can easily find a pediatric dentist where the parent goes with the child for everything, even routine cleanings. |
Liar. |
It’s a red flag for pediatric dentistry. |
| Please don't do this. I agreed to it and my child was really affected by it for years. I feel terrible guilt that he felt scared and alone. |
Yep - this was the dentist we went to and while he seemed great to me - my child said he was not very nice when they were alone in the room and there is a ton of "just suck it up" stuff going on. |
This is actually not the case. While they will occasionally allow a parent to be present for a regular cleaning, they have a strict policy banning parent's from the private treatment rooms for things like fillings or sealants. They allow a parent to walk their child back but insist parents must leave before the procedure begins. |
