My phone does too. I don’t even know a Nannie! |
Ding ding ding. I’m currently on my week off. 110k per year. Week on is awful because of the parents, but it pays the bills. |
Why are you proud of not giving your nanny a living wage? |
We’re currently paying our nanny $30 hourly (40 hours guarantee, plus 10 days PTO, all holidays, 4 sick days and $350 health Ins. Stipend). We have a 7 month old boy, she’s wonderful. |
Thank you for treating your nanny like the professional she is. My current nanny family treats me like a professional, and I’ve been with them for 9 years. |
|
Yes, this is appalling. I pay my occasional ranch hand $25 an hour. |
Thank you. |
Right. An American college graduate will start at $30. |
You won’t find a professional nanny with a college degree for under $30, mainly because professional nannies are usually with agencies. In my area, the going rate for a nanny is almost the same as a baby nurse, $35-40/hr. It’s kind of crazy. I’ve been working nonstop for the past year, saving money, because I know there’s no way this can last. Even normal families are paying $35/hr, it’s not just celebrities.
I think you can find someone for $20, but they won’t last, once they start talking to nannies at the park. The $20 nannies are also the ones on their phones, btw. You won’t see it at home on the nanny cam, but at the park, those are the kids being ignored. When a family pays me $40/hr, I don’t even look in the direction of my phone. I also won’t complain about doing extras, because I’m being paid what I’m worth. |
All of my friends pay between $25-$30/hr. We just hired a nanny to start end of august to watch our infant who will be 3 months old, 20 hours a week. We will be paying her $27/hr. She’s not college educated but has 6 years of nanny experience caring for infants. |
NP, but no reason to snap! This family has a college student who is looking for a student wage; she could be a great caregiver. In that case, win-win. And it's only for the summer. We hired a live-in summer nanny when our kids were younger, and she was better than many nannies I've seen lately. |
Yes, we paid that in 2009 and gave a generous bonus around the holidays. |
I only would hire college educated nanny with 7-10 yrs of experience. The truth is, her college degree would be not from US college and that is totally fine. The reason I do not consider non-educated nannies is mostly that I like to see very good manners, her to be nearly perfect role model, read a lot, and be someone who has thirst for knowledge that she can inject into my child from early age. Preferably someone who has her won kid with college degree as well. Someone who never saw college as their goal is just not the person I would want my kids to be with 10 hrs a day 5 days a week. |
She works part-time for me and she is amazing and loves her job. |
