A lot of the schools mentioned on here are very difficult to get into and are simultaneously

My DD is considering Northeastern and has been texting with current students about the social life there and in Boston. Apparently, the MIT frats are where it is at in terms of college parties in Boston. Who knew?

Omg. No. Just no. You have no clue. None. No one with any clue at all would call UChicago a party school in any way shape or form. It’s a grind. 100% grind.

Sarcasm isn’t your strong suit.

UVA is famous for this. If you were a party kid, you did NOT get in from our NoVA HS. Once there though, kids are going hog wild. The good news is that they usually don't go out Sunday through Wednesday so there's a work hard/party hard atmosphere.

+1 The key is to keep it together in high school, then let loose once you get out from under the parents’ watchful eyes.

If a kid is going to be irresponsible about drinking, they will do it wherever you send them .

NP. Virtually every school has a lot of partying/drinking.

UVa, Washington & Lee, Bucknell, other state flagships that have been hard to get into lately

Add in Norte Dame, BC, WashU, Tulane, Dartmouth, Wake, Emory... Throw in the SLACs too if you consider social drug use (as opposed to alcohol) to be partying

Wake is a party school? I thought it had a rep for being very challenging academically.

Hahaha. No. Wake is not a tough school academically. It’s not that hard to get in and is populated with kids who are literally in college to party. Mostly white and entitled (e.g. unmotivated and super spoiled) student body. Yes they party hard and have more than enough free time to do so.

I don't think Greek life is exactly Animal House on an MIT campus. UMiami, Ole Miss, even CM - definitely. Most (all?) of the Boston area schools disassociate themselves from Greek life, and require them to be housed off campus (understandably) for liability reasons. In fact, many of the MIT frats are actually housed in Boston, not Cambridge.

When I went, Freshmen on up went because they had fake IDs .

Oh this particular bar you didn't get into with a fake, it was notorious for that. The other bar in town (yes there were TWO), yes all underclassmen.

Am guessing we went to the same college did they check IDs at the door using the college freshman directory … amazing how many freshman fake IDs got busted that simple way

Ha. Mine didn't. But it didn't crack the top20. However, the smarter the partier--the more they see that as a mere challenge to overcome.

My husband's Hopkins' fraternity brothers would have been able to crack that. These are some of the smartest people I know and 3 of them are some of the biggest partiers I ever met (and I know many!). 2 are doctors and 1 very high up in government.

Oh---and one of them used to administer IVs at the Frat house to overcome hangovers
