OP, please don't listen to suggestions involving sticker charts and rewards! It's a great way to get kids to value rewards and think of reading as a chore that must be suffered through in order to get those rewards.
Reading should be the reward. Don't force them to check out books, do read the the first grader, and do, if possible, read in your native language. |
