Which ES has a good principal?

(and will now duck all the rotten tomatoes coming my way)

I’m genuinely curious what you like about her. I have found her to say all the right things with very little follow-up, so the things she commits to don’t actually happen.

I like that she is super teacher-focused. I’ve been around elementary schools my whole life and in my experience, the principals who really care about and stand up for their teachers make for a much better school experience for our kids than the principals that focus on pleasing parents. CCES has amazing, amazing teachers and great retention. She’s not the greatest parent-facing principal I’ve ever seen (obviously - see PP about being the most hated principal in MoCo), but who cares? I don’t need special snowflake treatment or attention paid to me. I need the focus to be on the kids and their experience.

I don't think it's about pleasing teachers vs. pleasing parents. It is not a zero-sum game. A good principal will be able to support teachers while also having respectful interactions with parents.

But I am happy to hear that she is supporting teachers! I agree that the teachers at CCES are top-notch and the best part about the school.

Garrett Park ES has an absolutely outstanding admin staff. Caring, proactive, communicative, dedicated - absolutely phenomenal.

Though she's just an interim now so hoping, hoping, hoping she does not get the job for next year.

Gregg Baron, at DuFief, is amazing. He is so responsive to parents and a great, inspiring boss to teachers and staff.

Best principal I have every had is at my little private school. Probably because she doesn't have to deal with the MCPS bureaucracy.

I believe this. He was an assistant principal when my kids were in ES and he was amazing.

Yes! I worked with Patrick Scott at another school, and he was great with both teachers and parents. His enthusiasm and compassion are not an act, it's legitimately how he is.

Wow, we don’t feel that way about her at all.

Well then you probably haven't had to deal with her on any serious issues. Consider yourself lucky.
