| Frankly, between the teens headed off to college imminently and your own hesitation/ hatred toward getting a dog, I don't think you should pull that trigger. Your whole situation seems like a hot mess of dysfunction for a faultless animal. |
I would never in in a million years give a breeder recommendation to someone with your attitude. |
I have plenty anyways. But what attitude? Learning all I can as a new dog owner? Whatever. |
buy a puppy, you can hire a dog trainer with the 1000$ you would have spent on the older dog, you can buy puppies that are calmer than others, you don't need to have experience to own a dog. you really don't. also it's better to purchase from a breeder, rather than a rescue. you have older kids, and you can make them help out. but if you do decide to buy the older dog, you can hire someone to fly the dog out to you, that's what I did with my bernedoodle. and you just pick the dog up at the airport. |

Op,
Come back and tell us which pup you chose. How is it going? Thanks! |
We didn't get any yet. Prefer an older trained dog but puppies so cute lol. Need to figure out soon that's for sure! |
I got a 2 year old rescue and 13 years later a puppy. The puppy while cute has been more work for sure but we have been training since he was 4 months old ( now almost 13 months) and we are finally seeing some progress. Good luck but don't rush it. |
