I am sorry, but DCUM parents are incredibly lazy.

I wish this board had a thumbs up or thumbs down icon readers could click.

FYI - thumbs up to this post!

Don't forget to tell your guests that is on the menu. Some kids won't like just tater tots fyi

By 12, kids should learn to be polite and eat what's served. Out of a bar like this I'm sure even the pickiest eater can find something.

To me this sounds delicious, but if you do like not tator tots, the rest are toppings. So what would the kids eat? The hot sauce? Ketchup? A bowl of melted cheese? The point of saying the menu is not so parents can ask you to change it, it’s so parents know whether to drop off a hungry or full kid. It does not cost the OP anything to mention tator tot bar in the invite.

Plus, most kids are great at politely not eating. But this is always followed by parents insisting they kid eat or questioning them relentlessly why they are not eating or barely eating.

Chili was listed as a 'topping'. If you really hated tater tots, why not a bowl of chili? Add sour cream and cheese if you wish.

That's the advantage of bars. Taco bars, ice cream bars, whatever - people can choose what they like as a main or as a "topping".

I want a tot bar now.

OP. Your daughter is a genius. What a great idea.

You can grab a small bag of tortilla chips just in case the tots aren’t a hit, (I can’t imagine it, though)

I suggested pulled pork earlier.

Our local ramen place has totchos with pulled pork and it's amazing.

What a great idea, and lots of good suggestions for toppings.

This may sound strange to purists/ unfamiliar if you haven't tasted Indian street food (though lots of people on this forum seem to like Rasika's palak chaat), but tater tots make a great base for chaat! You can buy the green & tamarind chutneys at the Indian store, and also chaat masala & the fried crunchy noodles (sev). Layer the tots, fresh toppings like chopped tomato & onion, drizzle with chutneys + thinned salted yogurt, finish with a sprinkle of crunchy fried noodles, cilantro and chaat masala.

I like it with ranch dressing!
