Why LOL? Do you think that there are no high achieving students whose parents can’t afford 30,000+ per year? Or do you think non-Catholics apply to a Catholic school don’t have to have a better ‘application’ than Catholic students?

not PP but we all know the BI acceptance rate is over 87%.

And your point is….

All of PVI, BI and DJO are really good high schools. BI is 25-30% smaller than the other two, so is probably weaker in sports. I think they are all of close quality educationally, just serving different geographies. They generally produce well rounded, college-ready kids.

SSSAS is probably a bit more UMC, but is also a really nice place. We looked at both schools and liked both a lot. Ended up at SSSAS for robotics but we’re impressed with BI.

The point is that this statement from PP "A non-catholic from those schools needs the same stats to get into Ireton as they would to get into GDS/Sidwell/NNCS/STA" is false and really funny.

I don’t think PP meant non-Catholic students needed the same stats to get into BI as they would Big 3. Just perhaps more than the Catholic kids going to the same Catholic school. Unless they have another factor such as sports recruit or the like.

“ My DD and her friends from their Catholic parochial K-8 are really excited to apply to Ireton, PVI and O'Connell for next year. But I know we would never apply to SSSAS and we live close by, “

You live near SSSAS and are applying to PVI? Isn’t that in Loudon County or something?

Way out near where Rt 50 and Rt 15 intersect

Yup, it's an option we're looking at. Ireton will probably be her 1st choice because of their art and music programs but if for some reason PVI is where she ends up wanting to go after her shadow day, we'd probably move out there since her current school location is the last thing keeping us close in. It would be a win-win for the rest of the family.

If you live in Alexandria, why would one chose PVI over BI? Sports? Just curious.

This makes sense. Good luck!

OMG! Between PVI and Ireton pick the closest. Those schools are not close and traffic is a nightmare. They are equivalent.

Brand new school built to serve growing and underserved Loudoun County. I think prior a student out there desiring a Catholic high school had to drive all the way into DJO before that. I don't know what, beyond brand new, would make you choose that school, but sounds like PP is willing to relocate if her daughter likes the school, so...

There is also John Paul the Great down in Dumfries, only a few years older.

NP. Looking at both because we don’t want to drive into DC for school. Why is BI better? Honestly, I thought they are both considered second tier?

What is considered second tier? Is the big 3 top tier and schools that aren’t as good below?

BI second rieron what criteria? It is easily the weakest CatholicHS in MD, DC or NOVA!

Alexandria to PVI commute makes my head hurt just thinking about it.

You can afford something AND think posters should be accurate about outplacement, which is objectively "meh".

I wish there were more privates, or at least another Catholic option that wasn't as far out as PVI or PJP, in NOVA in general.

My boy takes the yellow line to St. Anselms in NE DC. Take about 50 minutes door-to-door.
