I don’t think this is realistic. Too much money involved/people who have “bought into” certain neighborhoods will revolt. I can see them wanting to do it, but I can’t imagine it would ever happen.

That said- I unfortunately don’t think I would recommend moving to Arlington for the schools anyway. I may change my mind, but currently regretting our choices

I’m not sure if they will do a lottery either, but the County is going to allow a lot more development in North Arlington per Plan Langston Blvd, the Affordable Housing Master Plan, and the Missing Middle Study. The schools will grow even more overcrowded, distance learning will never go away, and we will likely see things like flexible hours for high school (night school). Some people may be fine with all of these options, but I think we will likely end up at private school or another school district. Just FWIW.

I'm a realtor and tell my clients to not look farther than McLean if they plan on a tolerable commute to DC. I personally moved to the suburbs (McLean) from DC because of the schools. It's the price you pay for living in the suburbs, but it's got its upsides too like the city-like neighborhoods (in Tysons, Mosaic...it's definitely not DC but with kids in tow, city living becomes secondary), parking, bigger yard, etc. Please reach out if you need my help Kris Thomas 202 695 3120.
