Now that college application are submitted, anyone happy that they used a college advisor to give guidance? Was it worth the money?

Yes, I'm very glad we used someone. We had a one-time consult for $500 just to generate a list. We were all pretty much at sea before then. My college-bound kid doesn't fit neatly into a profile and the school college counselor really wasn't of any help.

Consultant assessed the fit of the schools he was looking into and provided a list of 15-20 based on his interests and stats for us all to research.

I know, right? I just clicked on it because it was so vague and I was curious.

Now that applications are in ... was it worth it to use a college counselor? If so, who did you use & were they worth the money?

The information is out there and readily available. It is a matter of time. If you don't have the time and have the money, then like anything else (lawn care, house cleaning, food shopping...) it would be worth it.
