Infertility Support and Discussion
| I was pretty confident that I could wait for #2. But now after reading this forum, I'm worried. #1 took 2 tries at 38. At 41, what am I looking at? I would love to hear some good success stories of natural conception at 41. Does have a first one help with the second? |
| did you have your 1st child naturally? If so, 2 tries is GREAT!! |
| Yes, it was natural. I used charting and it was right on the money. I highly recommend it. |
| OP, you just really can't know unless you try or go through some testing. You may have had a big drop off in fertility in the past few years (which happened to me) or you may be okay. |

I don't think anyone can answer your question. I agree that positive personal anecdotes are encouraging, and I search them out myself sometimes too, but really, everyone's different & no one on this forum can tell you what's going on with your body. Like a PP said, you may still be ok, hormonally speaking, or your fertility may have really dropped off in the past few yrs. If you are serious about #2, I would go in for bloodwork so you know what you're dealing with.
I posted about myself on the "too late to start naturally?" thread (poster 14:00), but in a nutshell, I also do fertility charting, I conceived all 3 of my kids naturally & very quickly in my early to mid-thirties, and I have now been trying for 6 months at age 38 with no luck. I do NOT think you should panic, but I do think you should make some decisions about testing and get started TTC in the very near future if you are serious about having a second. |
| I don't think you need to panic but i do think you need to move quickly. AFter 40 it is much harder to get pg. I had my first at 37. We TTC for #2 when I turned 41. I had three IVF's, one resulted in a m/c at 10 weeks. Some have better success than me but many do not. So I would move quickly to do some kind of treatment, whether it be IUI, IVF, etc...I would also combine acupuncture and chinese herbs to just maximize your chances of success. |
| I'm also TTC #2 and just turned 40 last fall. We had our first when I was 39 and I had to do IUI. We are now TTC #2 naturally but if something doesn't happen in the next month or two we will go back to doing the IUI again since that seemed to work last time. When I was tested, my hormone levels were fine but I think my husbands sperm was a little slow...so it had a tough time reaching my eggs...so with the IUI we got pregnant. |

You know there are so many things that go into this equation.
Get rest - don't stress - eat healthy - make suer the same for your husband - and have fun! We are starting to TTC #3 at 40 so I don't have any been there / done that stories for you - but will pass on my well wishes. |
