IVF retrieval pending for Monday or Tuesday and no one to drive me :(

I'm not sure if you have seen me posting on here before- I have been sharing my blog that I started to document my first IVF process at fertilitylifeandlove.com

I had my day 9 stims monitoring appointment today and was told I will either trigger tonight for a Monday retrieval or tomorrow for a Tuesday retrieval. I was planning to take a cab home, but the nurse's supervisor said that is not allowed. I was told I need to have someone physically accompany me, stay during the retrieval, and drive me home.

I am not originally from here and don't know a lot of people or have family here! Everyone I do know works during the day.

Does anyone have any advice?

Look on care.com under "caregivers" - you should be able to find someone suitable there who you can hire to be your companion and driver.

Is this at shady grove? They should be able to suggest a medical driver. Someone you pay to wait for you and drive you. Just call and ask.

I had an appointment today and they gave me the number to "Right at Home", but when I called it went to voicemail for after hours. I am not sure if I can reach them on the weekend or not and I might need someone for Monday

I would probably tell them I had a friend coming and then call myself an Uber.

I think they make the driver sign in and sign they will wait. I remember my husband having to sign something. So don't think that would work. Also too risky. Just hire someone!

So use google and search for other medical transportation companies. There are plenty.

The person has to come into the facility and stay until the patient is released, so this will not work.

For my last SG retrieval, I used Right at Home. SG provided me with the number. This was last year, but I believe it came to around $120 + tip for someone to pick me up at 5:30 am, wait the few hours it took, sign me out, then drive me back. Not bad considering I've paid more that $50 for a cab to their Rockcille location.
