What type of alcove bath material is best for a middle of the road renovation?

Anonymous
My husband and I are using our trusted handyman to renovate our second full bath, and I'm struggling to pick out an alcove bath tub. Will an acrylic tub look cheap and cheesy? I don't want to spend a ton of money but I want something quality and that is not going to look cheap. TIA! Also, if anyone has any ideas of where I can go to check out some options (besides Home Depot/Lowes), I'd appreciate it. TIA!

Yes, an acrylic tub will look cheap. They are harder to clean too. You can check out bathroom supplies at Ferguson's in Rockville:

What is a better material than acrylic, other than cast iron?

Acrylic is fine. It only looks cheap if you put in an acrylic surround instead of tile.

Acrylic looks cheap and doesn't hold heat.

We did a white Kohler acrylic tub because the cast iron ones weren't deep enough. It looks good, and we used tile for the surround.

Omg, Ferguson's? The place where you need an appointment and if you aren't dropping 50k you won't get one?
She doesn't need to go to Ferguson's for a moderate renovation.
