Who was correct here ? Grocery store incident.

Anonymous
I was standing in line at the grocery store behind a man with a lot of items. I only had a salad bar container and a bottle of water. well this man in front of me was putting his items on the belt he realized he forgot something and left to get it. I didn't think anything of it because somebody in front of him was still paying for her items. after she finished paying the man still hadn't returned so the cashier asked me if I would like to just have her scan my items. I said OK and handed her my salad bar container and bottle of water. as the cashier was giving me change the man ran back with his items he had forgotten and he went ballistic. He said that I cut the line and I was a terrible person and I was a bitch and all types of things. Of course at this point my transaction was done and the only thing holding anything up was him yelling at me and the cashier. I apologized so that he would calm down and I promptly left . was I completely wrong or was he wrong?

Just ignore his crazy. What an entitled jerk.

He was wrong and psychotic.

You were right, and I would not have apologized and just watch him make a complete and utter fool of himself.

You were one hundred percent right. The guy should have offered for you to go in front of him when he realized he had to go find something.

I am guessing something else is going on in his life and he took it out on you.

I had a dude go ballistic on me because I waited for him to park in the space next to me before opening my passenger door all the way to unload my son from his car seat. Some people are just weird and psychotic.

OP, are you really asking who was wrong in this incident or are you just venting on DCUM about it? It's obvious that you were right...not even up for discussion. Move on, you've already spent more time on DCUM posting about it than the time you would've spent waiting for him to return to the line.

...but cool story bro!

You were wrong...to apologize. People like that don't deserve apologies. I hate yellers.

He was wrong. His poor wife and family for having him in their lives.

Ignore.

If you have to respond to someone who accused you of cutting the line, you say "No sir. I did not cut. You left the line."

The cashier should have called the manager over or handled this customer for you themselves. The cashier signaled for you to go ahead with your transaction.

I really hate people who leave the line.

I agree. You should not have apologized. I'm trying to teach my girls how to not apologize for other people's bad behavior and it's not easy because, i feel, women are conditioned to apologize to keep the peace.

I'm sorry that happened to you. He was obviously unstable.

He left the line, so technically he is the one "cutting"...the belt is not a place to hold your items while you finish your shopping.

That sucks that happened to you. You were not wrong.

He was wrong. If the cashier told you to pay, you can pay.
