suggestion for All inclusive resorts

Anonymous
We are looking for an ell inclusive resort for our honeymoon that is somewhat affordable. We would like a quiet clear beach somewhere. We are considering a Sandals resort but would like suggestions from people who have had great experiences anywhere (exactly which Sandals resort or any other all inclusive) We would like a nice quiet place but where there are things to do as well, like scuba diving, snorkeling, visiting town, etc. We will be traveling next July.

Thanks!

We just went to a Beaches resort in Negril Jamacia with our kids (affiliated with Sandals but geared towards families instead of couples) - We absolutely loved it and there was always something to do!! We are actually ready to plan another trip there next year! I have heard that people have been similarly pleased with their Sandals resort!

We did our honeymoon at the Sandals Antigua. This was several years ago but it was wonderful. Everything was top of the line, the service was outstanding and we really wanted to tip some of the staff and they always refused. We didn't have a ton of money at the time and it was great not having to worry about money. You could just relax and enjoy yourself.

We also did a short vacation at the Grand Braco in Jamaica. Also top notch and I would recommend. Here is their website:

Last all inclusive was the Beaches in Punta Cana and it was terrible. Our room could have been at a Motel 6. The food was awful, the wine was horrible. Your choice was red or white and the service was so poor. The staff would often ignore you and I am hispanic and could hear them talking about "propina" (tip) even though they were not supposed to accept any. We were so disappointed that we will never go back to Punta Cana and maybe the Dominican Republic. That is probably unfair to the DR but it was just that awful that I just don't what to go back.

One more thing, there were tons of kids running wild through the resort. May not have bothered me if I was with kids but for your honeymoon go to an ADULTS ONLY resort. I hope you have a wonderful honeymoon.

I think Sandals is running a special right now. You might want to check Travelzoo.

I recommend Couples Swept Away in Jamaica. (Negril)

We went to Couples Negril (not Swept Away - there are two Couples resorts in Negril) and it was wonderful. The rooms are pretty average, but the resort itself, the service, and especially the food was great. We still talk about the food. Another nice thing about Couples resorts is that you can take a resort Scuba course and do a short dive included in the regular cost (at least this was so when we went). Not sure if Sandals offers that, but it was a fun experience for us!

I highly recommend Cozumel Palace in Mexico. The place is wonderful; however, no beach, but the snorkeling in the 2nd best in the world!!!! The service at this hotel is great. Check out the reviews on www.tripadvisor.com

Look at the Secrets chain of resorts; more upscale than Sandals. Also look at the Royal Hideaway Playacar

Swept Away in Negril. Beautiful beach; not too loud and crazy.

If you are going in July, do yourself a favor and go to the ABC Islands (Aruba, Bonaire, or Curacao). No Sandals, but those islands are out of the Hurricane belt. I used to go to the Carribean once a summer for work and about 1/3 of those trips I had bad weather (hurricane, tropical storms, N'Westers). Early May or June is much better in terms of stable weather.

We absolutely love, love Palace Resorts. We are members but we've talked to so many guests who were able to get great deals on travel sites or through their travel agent. We've gone every year since our honeymoon and thus far have visited Aventura, Moon Palace, Moon Palace DR and Sun Palace. All are absolutely amazing, staff goes above and beyond, delicious food, discos, and activities for adults and/or family. You will not be disappointed.

Good luck to you!
