We're going to be in Orlando between Christmas and New Years. Can anyone recommend a decent hotel in the area that's not part of Disney or Universal? I know there are lots of options, just don't know where to start looking. Proximity to parks doesn't really matter to us. TIA!
I've stayed at both Four Seasons and the Waldorf Astoria. Both are wonderful.
Budget? Kids?
Marriott cypress harbour. Loved it.
Wyndham at Bonnet Creek - large, nicely furnished condos; an amazing lazy river; numerous amenities.
We stayed at The Point near Wet wild. Did a 2 bedroom, 2 bath room with a full kitchen and w/d. Closer to Universal. We loved the location because it was easy to get to International Drive to eat.
2 kids - both 10 year olds. Trying to keep the costs down as much as possible. |

Best resort would be Four Seasons Orlando. Brand new, amazing pools, fantastic service, complementary kids club. Also $$$$.
We usually stay at Disney or Universal. Have heard good things about Marriot Harbour Lake, Reunion and the Ritz. |
We stayed at the Waldorf. It happened that we found a room at a great price--barely more than the Hilton next door! Our kids preferred the Hilton pool with lazy river and we ate at the Hilton many nights. It was nice to retreat to the calmer, quieter Waldorf at the end of the day.
I think that you can rent at Wyndham bonnet creek through VRBO and other places.
four Seasons is worth every penny! |
We stayed at the JW Marriott- had a great suite and easy access to all parks - great restaurants too!
We stayed at the DoubleTree across the street from the Universal Entrance. Got a great deal and the hotel was very nice.
Hyatt place I drive is good. Free breakfast too.
Gaylord Palms
