Is it just me, or does anyone else notice that diets launched mid-cycle are doomed, but starting one at the end of your period seems to kickstart weight loss? I'm 40 and never really noticed this until one day I connected the dots. I have 5-10 lbs I'd like to lose to get rid of jiggle in the middle. I was doing really well until my cravings for chocolate and carbs kicked in as my period came near. I now know better than to even bother counting calories or dieting in Day 1 - Day 5, because it gets me nowhere but frustrated. If I wait until Day 6 to jump into a diet, it seems to come off much more easily.
Anyone else agree, or have any other diet tricks that work for you? (things that aren't obvious, like eating less calories than your body burns, etc... )

I don't think that's a diet trick! I gain about 5 lbs right before every period, so anything lost after the period would put me right back to where I started.
I have found the best way to lose weight is to count calories, but I also factor in the chocolate and other cravings I get right before my period so that I don't doom myself. |
