Chicago for Thanksgiving break with 11 and 8 year olds-Yay or nay?

-Is it kid-friendly?
-Will the weather be too cold for the kids to enjoy the city?

I figure it's a good time to check out the Terra Cotta exhibit at the Field Museum, been wanting to see it. Hoping the crowds will be less.
