If an ADD med (Vyvanse) is going to work, how long should I give it before trying something else?

9 year old was on 10 mg for one week and just increased to 20 mg. No improvement on his focus yet. How long do we give it before we increase dose again or talk to doctor about changing med?

What does your son say? Does he report feeling any different?

He says it makes his focus worse with a headache, but I know that could be an early side effect. Also, headache can't be that bad because he doesn't bring it up unless I ask.

With the stimulant drugs, I noticed the difference within a day. If your DC isn't impulsive/badly behaved maybe it would take longer to notice?

My DS started out on 10 mg and I didn't notice much. At 20Mg, it was very noticeable right away. The doctor said if his appetite is still good during the day, the dosage is too low. He has almost no appetite now on 20mg. But he is also tiny at 60lbs. How much does your child weigh OP?

My son is also about 60 lbs....this is for inattentive

We notice right away. Our doc says to give each dose a week just to experience different levels of sleep/activity/etc, but I can tell by day 3 if the dosage isn't high enough.
