Good NoVA location for picnic/fireworks for family with young-ish kids?

Subject says it all! We have 4 and 5 yo girls and want to find a nice, family friendly spot where we can have a picnic and watch the fireworks!

Arlington at the Iwo Jima memorial - sit in front of the Bell tower. You'll have the view of the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and the Capitol plus the fireworks and not a lot of the sometimes-fear-inducing "BOOMs"!

Thanks for the suggestion! How early do you suggest getting there to get a good viewing spot?

I suggest getting there early (around 3 or 4 pm) and bring a blanket, some activities for the kids, munchies, etc. There will be lots of families there.
