| Looking for daycare recommendations for my 13.5 month old twins. We are looking in the Reston area. Thanks. |

Simon Center
Common Ground Reston Children's Center someone recently posted about the Montessori Peace School in Herndon. all of these get good reviews. |
| When we were looking at potential daycares in Reston, we toured Reston Children's Center, YMCA, and one other program I don't recall. Really liked RCC and if we had moved there would have chosen their center. YMCA seemed decent. |
| Haha. I had to double check to see if I posted this! I am just starting to look at daycare too in Reston--but my twins are almost 15 months old! I have heard good things about the Reston Children's Center. There seems to be a number in the area so it is a bit overwhelming! |
| Reston Montessori is excellent. |
|
We recommend both
Robert E. Simon Center and Reston Childrens Center Our kids were at the Simon Center until kindergarten, then at RCC for their school age program. They are really great programs, well run, good people. |

Common Ground
We have been there seven years now. There is a dynamic new director, the quality of care is extremely high, turnover is pretty low. We looked at all the non profits and RCC was our second choice. |
| Has anyone looked at the Community Montessori in Reston? |
| Would anyone recommend a Montessori school over a franchised daycare? Is there a large difference when it comes to being ready for Kindergarten etc? Is the Montessori teaching method very strict? |
I did. Frankly, I found the owner/director kind of flaky. |
None of the centers being discussed here are franchised. They are all non profits. |
| We are looking as well - does anyone have any experience with Chesterbrook, or Kiddie Academy? Both have been recommended to us - but trying to see if there is any other feedback out there. |
|
I know a couple of families who pulled their kids out of Chesterbrook. From what I heard, it simply sounded not very nurturing.
The only thing I've heard about Kiddie Academy is that they give their PreK kids homework. Seeing as FCPS is a starting to trend no homework in ES, based on current research, it seems completely unnecessary. Nice facility, though, and convenient to the swim school and a ballet school. |
| Bar-T is fantastic. Our DS has been there since he was 4 months old and is now 20 months old. Love it there. |
| I really liked Reston children's center, but can't comment on the infant and toddler area. We started in the preschool program. Both my kids went there and they also went to the summer camp for several years once in elementary. |
