| Does anyone have recommendations for basement waterproofing companies? We discovered some moisture in our basement and standing water behind a wall. Has anyone heard of or used B-dry or MER Waterproofing (formerly Morrison). Thanks. |
| Be-Dry (I may have spelled it wrong, but that's the idea) did a great job on our basement. It used to flood down there in the basement, but a year after they did their thing the basement is dry as a bone. They run a french drain around the inside perimeter of the basement, and then a sump pump clears the water out. Apparently they've done our whole neighborhood, and the recommendation has been passed on by word of mouth. |
I love MER. I've reccomended them to so many people I might as well work there. I live in a 60 yr old house that had major water issues. I got some astronomical estimates from many different companies, all the way up to 20K. MER came in for 4K and fixed my problem with a french drain and a sump pump. It has been 4 years and our basement is dry as a bone. They were professional, fair, and did an awesome job and left the basement cleaner than they found it. It is a family business and has been around for decades. They clearly are doing something right. |

Kesterson plumbing. Our basement flooded in 06 right after we bought our house (we knew it had issues). Kesterson replumbed the basement by having french drains around the perimeter of the baseement and installing a sump and basin for the water. It's been dry since and now we use it for living space. You can hear the water pour into the basin. They also installed a battery back-up for when the power goes out.
The estimates came in over 15K but Kesterson charged us 8K. They came highly recommended and I now see their trucks everywhere-they're located in Del Ray. It's messy while they do the work-they jackhammer the basement concrete. Concrete dust is heavy! But it's so worth it! |

Hi,
We went through this last year. We got three estimates and we are glad we did. Mid Atlantic- $13,000 and would destroy our real knotty pine paneling worth a lot of money Aqua Guard-$10,000 and would destroy our real knotty pine paneling worth a lot of money Desert Dry-$8,000 and never touched our paneling This was for the trenching, french drains and sump pump. We went with Desert Dry and they were awesome. I also thought the guy from Aqua Guard was reall smarmy...but that could be just one salesman. |
| OP here...appreciate all the responses. Thank you. |
| New poster here. I need more info. on the french drains! It seems expensive, is it worth it? |
YES, I'm the MER poster. |

This is a silly question, but are the French drains on the outside of the house - so that they dig around the perimeter and then route the water out to the street?
We have similar problems - we have a sump pump and got a battery backup sump pump installed, but the battery only lasts 8 hours so we are out of luck after that. MER installed the backup pump/battery. We live next to a flood plain so our sump pump works hard with all these heavy rains. So I'm wondering if French drains would reduce the water actually reaching the sump pump. |
