Someone posted a link to this workout on another thread, and I'm thinking of trying it as I sign up for a charity 5k this fall. The problem is, I am so NOT a runner, and have avoided it because I have asthma. Obviously I'll take it slow and carry my inhaler, but since my asthma is aggravated by the humid/smoggy air in this area, does any one have any ideas on where to run indoors? I'm in Arlington - any indoor field houses/tracks? I don't have (nor can afford) a gym membership, and childcare issues preclude running in the early a.m./evenings when the humidity's not so bad...

Most county rec. centers have fitness rooms with treadmills. Are you looking for treadmills or an actual track? |
| OP, it doesn't matter to me whether it's a treadmill or track, the criteria is that it be free (or close to it!) |
| Lots of rec centers and gyms have treadmills but it is not free. My local -in county rate- rec center charges $6.85/visit. |

Oh, PP here. I have asthma too. I've had lots of problems in the past. Check with your doc about re-adjusting your meds. It took many visits and readjustments. But, I'm fine with running with asthma.
Yours may be worse than mine. But, just a thought. |
| Do you live near a college or university with an indoor track? You might be able to run there. |
