I am 8 weeks post partum and looking to start a worthwhile exercise regime. I have not lost much weight since week 1, after delivery. Breastfeeding is not burning all those calories that the claims say will melt away.
Has anyone had success with the 30 Day Shred or another program? If so please do share. I am getting despararte to just drop ten pounds so I fit into something non-maternity at this point. I eat well and do not indulge in junk. The only way the pounds are coming off at this point is to exercise. Please help. I am very motivated but cannot decide what approach to take. Any advice is so very appreciated. |

Yes, my husband and I have had success with the Shred. It's high impact, however, and I would be concerned about sore breasts and a weak Kegel muscle. Be sure to wear a good sports bra so you don't bounce around. And do 100 Kegels a day. I have to wear a incontinence pad because I leak while doing the jumps. There are 3 levels and the first level has the least amount of jumping so you'll probably be comfortable. We did each level for 10 days.
The 30 Shred implies that you shouldn't take a day off but actually you should. Muscles need a day to recover in order to get stronger without injury. So we rest every 3rd-4th day. When I am 8 weeks post partum I start taking long strolls with the baby. Walking for an hour or more straight a day. That's good for your rest days from The Shred. Congrats on your new baby! |
Were you able to lose some weight and tone up? |
YES. Absolutely. It's an awesome workout. I canceled my gym membership because for $8.95 plus the cost of some hand weights, I get a great workout at home in less than the time it takes to get to the gym. |

do a search on this site and you will see some of the great successes people had w the 30 day shred
also - here is a link to the weblog that was posted on the front page of DCUM. http://www.dcurbanmom.com/weblog/2009/03/31/shredupdate#comments |
| Another exercise DVD that is great (and low impact) is Walk Away the Pounds. There's a variety to choose from. |
| It's a great short workout. It's warm up, 18 minutes of bust your tail, cool down. I don't think there is enough stretching in the cool down, but it is only 25 mins total, which might be good if you have a new baby in the house. It'll quickly adds definition, but not true weight loss right away. Definitely second earlier poster - good workout bra is a must, maybe even two at a time. |
| Does anyone know about how much space do you need in front of the TV to do the 30-day shred videos? Thanks. |
you can check some of the video out at You Tube and at CollageVideo.com http://www.collagevideo.com/workout-video/jillian-michaels-30-day-shred-7963 |

re how much space you need -
lay down on the floor. stretch out your arms above your head. that is all you need. |
| I did the 30 day shred and didn't loose an ounce. I was very disappointed. |
| I just found the 30DS video for free on comcast ONDemand (Exercise TV)! Not sure how long it will be on there, but at least you can try it out... |
| Levels 1 and 2 seem to always be on Comcast On Demand, but if you want Level 3, you have to buy it on Pay-Per-View. The DVD is $8.95 on Amazon. |
