Any suggestions for beaches or other fun day trips with kids within a hour drive from Warwick, RI?
Watch Hill, RI Newport, RI Block Island (ferry required for this one though) Mystic, CT (aquarium) -- may be a little more than an hour but not by much Boston Children's Museum -- again, a little over an hour |
Roger Wheeler Beach
Providence has a children's museum. I'd go to Newport and walk around the port area, Easton Park or King Park, or take a ferry to Ft. Adams, or drive down to Narragansett and go to the town beach.
Every beach in RI (and there are many) is within an hour of Warwick. Your closest ones would be Scarborough and maybe Sand Hill Cove. They are very nice and probably 20-30 minutes from Warwick. They are less isolated, which can be good or bad depending upon what you seek in a beach experience. But, the upside of Scarborough with kids is that it has a concession stand and bathrooms (which is rare at RI beaches). Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence is also nice. Mystic Aquarium in Mystic CT is probably a full hour away, but still doable.
