Washingtonians say $3 million = "wealthy", $720K = comfortable"

Cue the "DH is an executive in a Fortune 500 company but we feel middle class" brigade.

And this is why people hate DC and why Trump has followers.

More amazed by the $620,000 to "be comfortable."

Looks like they used a limited sample (NW) of Washingtonians.

This is why heartland America is so enraged with DC. A lot of these people are on the government payroll, if not directly then as "contractors."

Sorry, if your combined (married) HHI is above $250K, you are already "the riches" according to Obama. Look up his speeches.

If you factor in cost of living, I believe you are already in the 3% if you make 6-figure but under ~$700K. Above $700K in DC, you are the 1% class, regardless what you think you are.

Wrong. In the District, to be in the 1% you need to clear $943,000 a year.

Most people who wander around Ward 3 humble bragging about "1-percenter problems!!" are not, in fact, in the 1%.

Well, they are not directly on the gov payroll. Even if both spouses were senior officers at financial regulatory agencies, they would collectively be at about $500k. In reality, most dual-fed families are in the $200-350k range, assuming both are professionals. A good living, but not the DC one percent by any stretch.

That's just disgraceful.

No, the top 1% in DC is >$555K.

The article is talking about net worth, right? But some of the PPs are referencing household income.

I can understand the confusion when the article itself conflates the two: "households grossing at least $1 million in assets" ...

Yes. Not HHI. Because that would be absurd. "I require $3 million per annum to even feel wealthy. Now, excuse my while I adjust my monocle."

Lol I find it sad that you and others misunderstood the article, which is discussing NW, not HHI.
