I love black and red together and I love red on her. And I actually like the jacket that has kinda 80s/90s vibes. But I cannot for the life of me understand why she thinks rolling the sleeves up looks good. It makes her look like a college kid stopping off at the bar after an interview for a summer internship.

I think her biggest problem is she just lacks polish altogether (even here, her hair is undone and she's not wearing makeup) so even when she picks good pieces they're meh.

That plain black shell doesn't work with the suit, though. To me, the jacket is too big and boxy for her frame. And, for the life of me, I cant understand what aversion this woman has to running a comb through her hair before going out in public.

I think red looks nice on her, but I wonder if a blue red (this one's kind of orange) would pop more with her skin. That blue convention dress really looked great.

agree. Blue-red would look better and make her complexion look more lively. She's small and should wear smaller blazers. By a lot. I don't think she needs to do hair and makeup if that's not her thing, but a little smoothing product would go a long way. Friends of Usha, please intervene.

I wear makeup and do my hair with a Dyson brush and spray if and everything but it doesn’t look any better than hers and the makeup basically washes out in photos. I really don’t understand the critics and their expectations that everyone have hair that looks gorgeous and luscious. Some of us just don’t have hair like that, especially as it greys. And there’s not an easy solution at all. Melania and Ivanka are both lucky to have really nice hair (even though I hate ivanka’s dye job)—it lays flat and keeps a style.

I’m not a fan of the boxy jackets on someone with a small frame but they have been very in for the last couple of years so I can understand falling into that trend trap. She would actually look much better in a suit like Melania wore for the Ukrainian kid announcement. Usha has a good figure for that kind of suit and with a jewel toned shirt it would look good on her. But I don’t think the red suit is so terrible as to merit a lot of discussion. It’s not great but it’s fine.

Most of her outfits are fine - some nicer than others - but none merit the exaggerated pile on some posters seem to save just for her. I mean, she looks completely normal. Nothing outrageous or awful, no Kimberly Guilfoyle mishaps. The worst thing I think I've seen her wear were the teal pants on St. Patrick's day and that was just due to the color. Nothing else has been bad at all and I love the blue striped dress she wore recently with the blue blazer and the other blue striped dress she wore in India. It's weird the animosity some here clearly have for her.

I think discussions of Usha's clothes go on longer on this thread, because there are so many posts jumping in to defend her. Like people insisting that a run of the mill, out of season striped dress is "really pretty". And some poster upthread insisting her hair and makeup look amazing. These opinions are so far outside of a typical perspective, people respond to explain their critiques.

Also, without Ivanka in the Admin and with Melania often MIA, Usha is one of the people who is out in public a lot. And if she is going to fly around the world looking kind of frumpy on the taxpayer dime, people are going to comment. Especially, since she's doing it standing beside her DH who seems to interpret his VPOTUS job as being to defend and apologize for bigotry.

BTW, for the previous PP, Ivanka and Melania aren't lucky to have great hair! They treat it and probably use extensions. Usha would benefit a lot from a keratin treatment that would help the texture of her hair and make it easier to wash and go.

Keratin treatment, maybe. But please no extensions to MAGA hair.

I agree, Usha is the most important Female Maga to show up to events and get her picture taken.

I know you guys think that because she's Indian, she's automatically gorgeous, but honestly she's so average looking. I think that's where the criticism ultimately comes from, it's because she's kind of boring and then she doesn't do anything to dress up her boring self. There's nothing unique about her - she doesn't have the sharp slavic features that Melania has, for example.

Honestly, you seem to take Usha Vance's (very normal) appearance quite personally. Of course people are going to defend her! There's really nothing to criticize so it's particularly noticeable when a few posters rake her over the coals as if she's wearing some hideous outfit. None of her outfits have been hideous, or anything close. She's perfectly presentable and appropriate. And that striped dress/blazer outfit? It looked fantastic on her. To be frank, it's the totally over the top critiques that are "so far outside of a typical perspective". Most people would look at her and say, oh she looks good and not go off the deep end foaming at the mouth about miniscule things that no one normal would ever notice.

Additionally, if she were flying around the world wearing expensive clothing with lots of makeup, perfect hair, etc. "on the taxpayer dime," you'd be outraged about that too. We all know why. Your politics, that you continue bringing into your fashion critiques, make it crystal clear that you're not an objective bystander. You have an axe to grind with this woman (and her husband, who is off topic).

Her body is better than Melania’d, who has gotten thick and coarse looking with age. Come at me. Don’t care.

Usha’s clothes are largely fine and she is attractive. And I detest her politics, her husband, her being an Amy Chua pet, and in all likelihood, her personality. Those who go after her with such passion are just idiots who think there’s some subcontinental cabal defending her. Get a grip, please.

OMG. It's just astounding that you 1) claim that we think she's "gorgeous" because she's... Indian? And 2) that only you could possibly determine whether this woman is pretty or "average" looking.

I couldn't care less what ethnicity or race she is. What a totally bizarre leap on your part. And I don't think anyone said she was "gorgeous," but she certainly has *looked* gorgeous on occasion. Please stop telling other people how to perceive her. We're all entitled to our own opinions. My opinion is that she's a very attractive woman who looks great in reds and blues.

agree. Blue-red would look better and make her complexion look more lively. She's small and should wear smaller blazers. By a lot. I don't think she needs to do hair and makeup if that's not her thing, but a little smoothing product would go a long way. Friends of Usha, please intervene.

Agree about the blue-red rather than the orange-red. I have cool-toned olive skin and blue-red is so much better.

+100

It’s nice to see her wearing a color rather than the sad neutrals. That said, if she doesn’t want to put effort into hair and makeup, it’s fine. I would expect her to have better skin then - these days, I know many women who wear minimal makeup, but their skin looks great. I find her appearance to be very mature for her age (to put it nicely). She has no job at the moment; public appearances are her job. I can’t tell if girl is depressed or just unskilled - I personally would be depressed if my husband refused to defend me or our children, but she kind of signed up for it. I don’t even think you need cosmetic dermatology - just a regular skin care regime and adequate sleep.
