| I'm headed to Asheville to do some college visits with my vegetarian son. Does anyone have any recommendations for the downtown area? I'm also hoping to find the artsy, funky scene for entertainment. I'm open to any suggestions! TIA |

Everywhere - seriously. Most veg friendly town east of Portland and a great food town overall.
Early Girl and Tupalo Honey Cafe are old favorites. White duck tacos is amazing |
| I second Early Girl and Tupelo Honey, and also recommend Chai Pani in downtown area. I LOVE Asheville. What colleges are near there? |
UNCA |
| I had an amazing vegetarian meal at Tupelo Honey -- and there were many good options on the menu. |

Don't waste a meal at tupelo honey. It's fine, but there's a location in Arlington now.
Rhubarb is awesome |

I've been to Tupelo Honey in Asheville & loved it. Felt homey and local and the food was great. I'd go back in a second.
I didn't like the one in Arlington at all - felt like a corporate big box restaurant. Will not return. |
Also Warren Wilson and Brevard College |

Laughing Seed!!! The entire menu is vegetarian, and a decent sized piece of it is vegan. That's all they do, so they do it very well, and are excellent at cooking with tofu, tempeh, and seitan. Want a vegan Reuben? They can hook you up. Menu: http://laughingseed.com/
Salsas is also excellent. But Asheville has tons of great vegetarian. |
| Seriously anywhere. The town is vegetarian heaven. In any other smallish town, I'd recommend laughing seed, but, honestly, we find it kind of uninspiring. If you want an incredible, creative vegan meal, try Plant. If you like tapas, Curate is supposedly awesome, as in world class, but we e never been there. |
| PP again. Oh, I see someone else mentioned chai pain -amazing!!! |
One more. Since desserts are technically vegetarian French Broad Chocolates for the most amazing ice cream and desserts.
