What % of spouses are from college or through college friends?

I met my husband in college. It seems to me meeting a spouse at college or later through college friends is quite common. How common?

this is the reason why the huge brown vs. michigan thread blew up in the college forum.

and why the one princeton alumna wrote in the princetonian that princeton girls should be finding their husbands when at UG

Not sure. I met my husband in medical school. Hell of a way to get an mrs. I wish I had met him in college.

I only know of two couples that met in college. Everyone else met afterwards.

That P mom is nuts and is projecting (for several reasons, inc. her son ending up at a toilet law school where dating prospects aren't anywhere near Princeton's pool) ... but she's not wrong. I also think she's a little out of touch - I think many kids are meeting spouses at college, even career-oriented women.

My husband and I met the summer before senior year. Together for 20 years now, married for 16.

I would think that meeting one's spouse in college would be the minority. The age of first marriage for college graduates has become later and later as most seem committed to establishing a career, establishing themselves, and experiencing life and independence before settling down.

Introduced to my wife through college friends. We were in our late 20s. She grew up with my best friend's wife.

I just got together with some college friends. None of the 4 of us met our DHs in college.

I went to Princeton. I'm guessing it's about 10 percent.

I met my husband while I was interning in college, but he was already out of college. Does that count?

Vote here for after college. However, he was finishing college, so 1 vote no (for me), and 1 vote yes (for him).

My completely anecdotal observation is that less than 10% met from college or through college friends. A good 30-40% met through grad school and/or grad school connections. The largest proportion of 40-50% met through their first post-grad/first professional job connections following grad school. Most of our friends met their spouse in the 27-30 year-old range.
