Travel after baby's first shots

Anonymous
First time Mom here: We have our 2-month doctor's appointment visit scheduled for the day before we fly to the Cape Cod area (short flight). I know this visit includes several shots/innoculations. I just found out that some babies tend to get a fever after receiving shots. Should we re-schedule the visit? Is this something to worry about? Thanks for the advice!

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I'd tell the pedi, ask if Baby Tylenol is OK and take that and a thermometer with you. To feel more comfortable, I'd also scope out a doc or clinic at your destination, so you have that contact information on hand. But I definitely wouldn't cancel.

You can always keep the well-baby visit and reschedule some or all of the shots. Ask your pede which one(s) are more likely to cause a reaction and plan to come back in for a quick tech visit when you return.

I am torn because I understand wanting to have an innoculation and reactions that can happen quite often. Can you do this visit a little earlier? I have a child who reacts to shots and shoots very very high fevers so I would not get shots and plan a trip. Also there are some doctors who believe that after a shot your child is more susceptable ble to colds/flu for a week or two after because their body is fighting the shot..so something else to think about. At a minimum, I would not do the four, I would do two if you absolutely feel you need this. Good luck!

Talk to your doctor, he / she could advance the appointment by a couple of days, this way even if there is a reaction it will pass / become lighter by the time you travel.
