How much to paint walls and trim in a 900 sq foot apartment?

Apartment is located in DC. Trying to figure out what to expect here. (Thanks!)

We paid 1,800. We probably good have done better had we had more time to get multiple bids.

OP here. Did the $1800 include the cost of the paint? I have a quote for $2200, plus $400 for paint. It seems high to me, but I'm not sure.

Would you recommend your painter?

my painter might be able to see and give a bid if you like.

Can you post contact info for any painter you recommend?

I would just do that myself.

You should take a look at Angie's List or any other similar type of program and then get 3 bids for painters who have worked in your area. Painting costs seem to vary wildly in the DMV area based on past threads. You may also want to post on your apartment or condo's board for referrals from current residents. And talk to the building management in case they know anyone.

Also, think about what is a deal-breaker for you -- stray marks on the ceiling/walls where there is a color change, face plates removed before painting and painted separately (not painted over), how will the windows be painted (so they can be opened later or not?), etc. Those are 3 that will slow down painters but you also need to point them out if they will bug you. Most people can care less about these issues but for me they're big.

That's really helpful to the OP's question.

I agree, it is. I would do it myself so maybe OP should consider that route and then cost won't matter beyond the paint and materials.

The pains should be able to do it in 2 or thee days. 900 a day is too much.

I used Walter Aguilar (202) 747-8713

He painted 2 very large rooms and was very reasonably priced. I don't remember the exact amount but I think it was around $400 including paint
