We have done the Gaylord, Homestead, and Ritz Tysons. Loved the Gaylord, Homestead was pretty good but nothing much to do and far to drive. Ritz Tysons I was able to get a great deal but still not that impressed for the cost.
I am debating Hershey Hotel. I think Greenbriar may be too far. It can even be very local for a Staycation. We just like doing 1-2 nights as a family to get in the holiday spirit. I have a 15 tomboy and 8yr old girly girl if that helps. Thanks in advance. |
| Salamander? |
| Nemacolin in PA |
| Williamsburg? |

Bedford Springs is lovely at christmas time. One year we went when it snowed and everything was closed down down here (snow Days) and holed up at the Omni there and it was so great. We did take a lot of puzzles and stuff though. Its smaller than the homestead- feels like you are visiting some very wealthy relative with a large country home at Christmas time. The Greenbrier is crazy- you can't wear jeans indoors! I mean it like it but its too much for a relaxing family vacation.

| The Gaylord at the National Harbor is very nice as another poster mentioned. You don't need to stay there, though, you can just go for the day. |
OP is the one who mentioned that she has been there, dum dum! |
| Willard? |
| OK this is random, but what about the Mansion on O Street? It's so over the top and crazy...you could do a staycation and see the DC sights! |
| Hotel Hershey is lovely |
| We did Hotel Hershey twice at Christmastime when DD was younger. The amusement park was open, so that was fun, as was Chocolate World, driving through Sweetlights, and enjoying the indoor pool at the hotel. |

We don't do a hotel but Old Town Alexandria always gets me in the holiday mood with the Xmas lights and decorations. We like to window shop and visit Why Knot? and Christmas Shoppe, and the oyster bar.
Maybe a hotel near one of those drive-thru holiday light displays? |
| Farther than 2 hours, but Hotel Roanoke |
No jeans? No way. My husband goes on vacation to get out of business attire most of the time. |
I forgot we did Williamsburg a few years ago but thank you |
