What's your opinion on them?
Our new house has a corner jacuzzi tub in the master bath. The real estate agent said they replaced all the jets and the filter etc. recently and they do look brand new. No stains. Is that good enough? Because of where the bathroom is located, it's going to be a huge PITA to get it out of here and we have other projects we'd like to do first. Or do you really think they are hideous and gross and remodeling the bathroom should be at the top of our list? |

Since it looks clean and no stains, I would just leave it for now. Who knows? Maybe you will use it? If you don't think it's hideous and gross, just leave it and see how you use your bathroom. I honestly would not remodel until I had time to use the room and see how it might best function (what I wanted). What you do with it might depend on what is in other bathrooms, how many children you have, etc. |
| Why do you care what other people think? I personally don't like them and think they're silly but I am not offended by them simply existing in someone else's home. I don't think I would have minded if my own home had one taking up space unused, at least not until I was going to renovate the bathroom anyway. Do you need the space for something else? Does it smell? Is it a hazard for a visually impaired person in your home? If not, what's the big deal?! |
+1 my brother has a jacuzzi tub at his house and we always have fun using it when we go to visit. |
The big deal is that the jets are breeding grounds for bacteria. It's not like a hot tub where there are chemicals to keep the bacteria at bay. OP, you are right to be wary of a jetted tub. That being said, it is probably fine. It's not like you are going to catch a disease or something. But the "ick" factor is definitely there. |
| I will never buy a house without one. I use my jacuzzi every night. |
We just moved to a house without one and I miss it. |
