We know we cannot get "cancel for any reason" insurance because we are more than 15 days from our deposit, but we'd like to get insurance for trip interruption/cancellation due to illness/weather for our cruise. It is still several months away and we have not paid the balance yet. Can anyone recommend a reputable company? I've googled lots but its hard to tell the difference between companies/quotes.
Any tips appreciated. |
| Travelguard is pretty good, or you could go to insuremytrip and compare a few policies there, or you could call the tripinsurancestore and ask them for advice. |
| I use World Nomad for all my trips : https://www.worldnomads.com/travel-insurance/ |
| I have used insuremytrip many times. However, for my upcoming trip, my Citi card offers "free" travel insurance if you pay for the trip on it. |
| For a cruise, I'd really just work directly with the cruise line to insure. The types of things that can go wrong can really run the gamut; you don't want any finger pointing about who is responsible if something arises where you have to make a claim. |
| I follow the Disney cruising Facebook page, and folks who had insurance through the cruise line fared better last week during the hurricane. |
OP here. According to Disney's own site, they offered a refund to everyone, regardless of insurance. Yes, people were on their own for extra hotel days, meals, etc. Airlines were allowing everyone to rebook with no penalty so it sounds like insurance made little difference to me. The Disney insurance is 4x the AIG TravelGuard insurance. ($100 vs. almost $400.) For something I don't expect to use. |
