Hi, I am looking for reccomendations for a cooking class in DC and close in 'burbs. I am looking for a class that will focus on "techniques" not a particular cuisine.
Thanks in advance, |
L'Academic de Cuisine in Bethesda has both professional and recreational cooking classes, and I'm pretty sure they have technique-focused classes in the recreational school. (They definitely do in the professional classes but I'm assuming that isn't what you are after.) |
PP here -- that was supposed to read L'Academie de Cuisine... |
Sur la Table has good cooking classes too. There's one in Pentagon Row in S. Arlington. |

Also, Lebanese Taverna has classes at their catering facility in Arlington. |
have you thought about hiring a pt in-home chef? it is not as expensive as the luxury may seem or a big hassle. when my husband was on holidays (he is a chef for an embassy downtown) for weeks at a time he would host (either at our home or a client's home) in-chef 'solutions' and would basically do what you asked. if you needed to learn a specific dish or cook for a large party or just needed to understand the difference between chop, dice, mince, saute and poached. I don't know specifically of companies names that offer this, but I do not know it is available and is nice to have someone come to your home |
