Cooking Class

Anonymous
Hi, I am looking for reccomendations for a cooking class in DC and close in 'burbs. I am looking for a class that will focus on "techniques" not a particular cuisine.

Thanks in advance,

L'Academic de Cuisine in Bethesda has both professional and recreational cooking classes, and I'm pretty sure they have technique-focused classes in the recreational school. (They definitely do in the professional classes but I'm assuming that isn't what you are after.)

Sur la Table has good cooking classes too. There's one in Pentagon Row in S. Arlington.

Also, Lebanese Taverna has classes at their catering facility in Arlington.

have you thought about hiring a pt in-home chef? it is not as expensive as the luxury may seem or a big hassle. when my husband was on holidays (he is a chef for an embassy downtown) for weeks at a time he would host (either at our home or a client's home) in-chef 'solutions' and would basically do what you asked. if you needed to learn a specific dish or cook for a large party or just needed to understand the difference between chop, dice, mince, saute and poached. I don't know specifically of companies names that offer this, but I do not know it is available and is nice to have someone come to your home
