New interim principal at Burroughs?

Anonymous
This is still a school I am considering for my child, but... How is the school with the interim principal and what happened??

The previous principal was awesome and was recruited to another school. The interim one has been good, according to friends who have kids there. They were worried but seem okay.

That's good news. Maybe my neighbors will stop bailing for charters.

The principal Corniel THIS year left due to her child's health concerns. The previous principal James was transferred to another DCPS mid-year.

The new current interim principal is from Plummer Elementary. He has work to do. It starts with one of
PreSchool teachers. I am part of a neighborhood group that got together to send our children to Burroughs. Over half have left to charters as of last week. I am still hanging in there but feel like my teacher needs intense training on how to deal with parents and 3 year olds.

I heard about that teacher and I dodged the bullet with that class. It gets really good for PreK but it then falls short in Kindergarten. I gave the school a try but now I too transferred to a neighborhood charter It's far from perfect but feels a little different than Burroughs. More visible parents, happier staff and nicer kids. I also didn't like the uniforms.

#Transferred with Hesitation.#Grass isn't always greener.

What exactly is the teacher doing or not doing?

Just rude and impatient with kids who aren't fully potty trained yet like my child was.

I'm sad to hear that. Does the school staff/climate seem to be staying on a positive note amid all the big changes in a short period of time?

Did everyone leave for Lamb, Bethune, Perry Street, Lee and Shining Stars?

I know some people put their names down at Langley, don't know if anyone enrolled.

Can I ask what the teacher is doing? Have you seen things firsthand? I'm concerned that this is my kid's class.
