Flight in 4 hours. Husband cannot find drivers license.

Anonymous
My husband has a domestic flight in 4 hours. He needs to leave the house within 2 hours. He cannot find his drivers license. He has a credit card, but not the one that was used to purchase the flight. The flight is a reward flight which was a gift from a family member. He has an expired passport. He has a company id. He has a birth certificate. Any idea if he will be allowed to fly? Where should he talk to someone? Security? The check in counter? Should he get there early to deal with this. He is not concerned, but I think this will likely be a "big deal" at the airport. Thank you!

Airlines gave my 85 yr old mother big time trouble 2 weeks ago when she didn't have her license. I'd call.

Birth certificate should be fine.

Does the dmv site let you print a temporary license?

They will not let him through security without a picture id.
A temporary license is not good enough.
There is apparently a way to fly if you forgot yours and they make you go through additional screening to verify identity. Bring your birth certificate and expired passport and go an hour early.

My mother of very advanced years (she no longer drove) had an expired license. This was years ago. They gave her a hard time, but did let her on the plane. We got her a non-driving id after that.

Does the work id have a picture? My coworkers have flown with that and a faxed copy of their birth certificate.

I have flown three times with no ID. You need some kind of picture ID, plus as many pieces of documentation showing your name as possible - checkbook, credit cards, ss card, etc.

Omg you are all ridiculous. Your husband will be fine. Bring other cards with his name on it - allow time for extra secreting. He will be questioned before going through security. You honestly think with all the idiots in America this is the first time someone lost their drivers license? Please. Chill out.

The last two people are right.

+1 to the PPs. You can do it (assuming you aren't of Arab descent where you'll be profiled). Just allow for time and extra screening.

If he has a federal ID he can use that. I did when I lost my license and had no issues.

I flew in August with no DL or passport. As long as you have other documents and plenty of time you'll be fine. I did get the extreme pat down, felt like I went to second base with the TSA agent lol. FYI all this is on the TSA website.

How expired is his passport? My dh discovered at 11pm before a 7am flight that he didn't have his dl. They accepted his expired passport and his duplicate dl was waiting for us when we got back from vacation

Expired passports are ok. And don't tell, but they will let you through with a Facebook account and secondary ID. For real.
