Has anyone tried the following two places for assessment? They seem to accept insurance.

I haven't but that's interesting, thanks for posting! I constantly read pretty much no one but the hospitals takes insurance for neuropsych exams. Is it perhaps because they are based in Gaithersburg?
I think we need a neurospcyh soon (only psycho-ed so far), but when I was looking for OT, I found that places in the 'burbs were more likely to take insurance than places in DC (couldn't find any in DC that take insurance). A high rent thing maybe? So long story short, here's a bump. Hope you get some responses! |
Op I've never heard of either. That said, Dr.Smith from the mybraindoc place is a psychiatrist, not psychologist. Psychiatrists are medical doctors, they do therapy and prescribe medication. They do not do evaluations - not the ones I know of at least. And not from all that I have read and experienced over the last 10 years of being in the ADHD world. A psychologist is what you want to see when getting a neuropsych evaluation, not a medical doctor. The place in G'Burg on the other hand has only Psychologists, that is who I would go to in a heartbeat of the brain doc guy. |
OP here, actually I got to the brain doc site because there is a guy there Dr. Paul Frey, who is a clinical psychologist that takes my insurance. I'm not sure why his info doesn't appear on the website. |
Thanks, I've been looking extremely hard. |
Haven't heard of Paul Frey either. Google shows very little info on the guy. Honestly I would go to the group in Gaithersburg. My son is 13 and has had 3 evaluations so I know what to look for, and the group in G'Burg seems to have more to offer. I am basing that just on their website, but the fact that they have a number of psychologists to choose from is already a positive in my opinion. |
