Woman novelists akin to Richard Ford?

| I love Richard Ford's novels -- dealing with the complexities of marriage, relationships with children, suburbia, and his writing is great. I've been trying to find an author who writes about similar themes and who also writes very well, but from a woman's perspective (Richard Ford seems so male-oriented). Any suggestions? |
