So hurricane Matthew and the election

Florida is pretty close in the polls. This hurricane could devastate a large portion of the state. If its really bad(power off for 2-3 weeks, no drinking water, people not returning home for a month, etc, etc) ...it could change the election. It looks like it will also hit GA, SC and NC. Hope there is no lost of life and the damage is minimal, but these storms are very disruptive.

I don't know who it will favor. The panhandle and west coast are republican. Maybe it favors trump?

It should remind people how much help they frequently need from the federal government, but the truth is that half of Florida will blame the hurricane on Obama and Hillary and curse them if FEMA hasnt fixed everything in a week. If there is a God, the hurricane will destroy Mar-a-Lago so Trump can have a real loss to deduct from his taxes.

I thought the state of Florida has liability in the insurance market. It was done because a lot of companies pulled out of the Florida market after the last big storm.

A massive amount of the failure during Katrina however fell on those in power in Louisiana. Has always been on the shoulders of local and state until the damage is done. What followed wasn't unusual in response either. BTDT more than once. Following there was other failures, no doubt, but once you screw up what happens before and during anything that follows is magnified.

BTW, why is NOLA the standard? The destruction along the Mississippi coast was far more extensive. What was the difference? The citizens and their elected officials weren't inept or corrupt.

You really do not understand do you? The storm could cause so much damage and disruption in a heavily democratic area of Florida that Hillary loses Florida.

Too many government departments stepping all over each other. We need smaller government, more efficient with more State involvement on these levels.
