I am trying to find paint colors that work well with honey oak floors. I don't really care for beige or tan. Greige is ok but haven't found the right shade yet. I'm leaning toward and cream or white. Any tried and true paint colors that work well? Preference for SW paint! Thanks!
Benjamin Moore linen white works for us. I know some people think it's boring, but if you have bold colors like we do (oriental rugs with strong blues and reds) it's a great neutral. I also like SW Kilim Beige. It's a little peachy in some light so comes off a little warmer and coordinates better with honey oak than a straight beige IMO.
our house has honey oak and we bought it with the walls already painted BM edgecomb gray. Its a nice light slightly greige ish gray.
OP here, thanks all!
We have Behr Gentle Rain which is also a nice light gray and it pairs well with the honey oak floors |
Ben Moore "Athena" is my favorite greige.
Behr Silver Drop goes very well with orangey oak floors.
You want to aim for wall colors with cool undertones (cool white, grey, greige, blues, etc) and avoid anything with yellow undertones, like a creamy white. Creamy white will make the floors feel bright yellow. Avoid anything from the 2000s color scheme, i.e. sage, pumpkin, rust, etc, which will make the floors appear very yellow.
Thanks all! Any other paint recommendations, will try to get samples this weekend.
We just did Benjamin Moore Gray Owl and love it.
