Favorite fashion decade?

I loved '90s minimalism. Clean, modern, and a little bit austere! When I started seeing patterns and ruffles and read that we were all going to become "New Bohemians" in the new millenium, I mourned. As I feared, I haven't liked this decade nearly as much. It will be interesting to see how taste in the coming decade shapes up.

Your favorite fashion decade? This one? Anyone gonna make a case for the '80s?

Yeah, I liked the 90s. Those clothes also looked better on me that what's out there now. I liked the 80s, too, but not as much, but think it had its day. Not too happy with the return of certain things like high-waisted jeans. They don't look good on anyone!

I like the "new bohemian" look a lot. Cute and is flattering on most people.

I'd never even try to make a case for the 80s. Hideous. Neon, anyone?

I used to think the 90's were my favorite fashion decade. I loved the calvin klein minimalist asthetics. But then, I started watching dvd's of Beverly Hills 90210 - and the 90's fashion looks just as ridiculous as any other past decades. Anyone remember wearing babydoll dresses over short leggings? Wait - I think they are starting to do this again, aren't they?

I loved the 80's - simply because I was young and the most fashion conscious at the time. I loved acid washed jeans, especially when paired with a pair of white leather fringed boots. When I saw Ferris Buller's day off, I serously coveted that white fringed leather jacket.

OP defending the decade during which I came of age here! The babydoll dresses had to have been riiiiiggght around 1990 if not 1989. I think style in the earliest '90s had more in common with the '80s. I was in my own oblivious bohemian haze in college from '91-'95, so I don't have a great sense of what others were wearing. Wait-- I had floral dresses and granny shoes. Yeah, that look wasn't a winner, though it was fun to be young and dressing in a romantic style.

I guess my perfect style moment was grad school to pregnancy in the second half of the '90s, when I hung up the florals in favor of black matte jersey.

I think 9:59 is right about a certain daring to fashion in the '80s. It was a moment in time, and as such, I can appreciate tapered acid-washed jeans, fringed leather jackets, jumpsuits (I had a cool turquoise one in middle school) and white bomber jackets (another cool middle school favorite!) Neon and paint splatters, not so much now. Did anyone have to pluck brows in the '80s? So liberating! My hair is naturally puffy, but I remember waiting in line for the scratched mirror in the school bathroom so I could tease and spray anyway-- funny. I'm sure I hardly needed it.

OK I don't remember these as the 90s and was not watching this teeny bopper show then but I was in my late 20s wearing professional not high school clothes. I remember the 90s as the clean, minimalist look with a great fit, straight leg pants, and more masculine/edgy feminine look.

My favorite decade is actually the 40s.

OP here. I guess I was in the grunge demographic, but I didn't indulge, myself. A lot of my friends did, though I don't know how much was self-conscious grunge and how much was just college.

If historical decades are fair game, I really like edgy 1910-1920 dresses like Fortuny, etc.

Probably the 1950s. My fave. My mom saved all of her dresses from that era and I wore them in high school.

1940s. The original shoulder pads rocked.

That's a tough one. I certainly had fun with fashion in the 80s. I dig the 70s look. I like the classy look of the 40s and the flapper dresses of the 30s.
