Can I put an oil pan in my neighbor's parking spot?

Anonymous
In a TH community with assigned outdoor parking. My neighbors are elderly and their home care nurse drives a beater that leaks oil. I'm sure the nurse cannot afford to fix it but I hate that there's oil everywhere and I have to step over it getting to my car. I am happy to buy a pan, and if I paint it black the hands-off HOA will never notice.

Is this rude? Is there a better idea? The neighbors kids are around sometimes and park there also.

That's weird of you.

The best idea is to just ignore this.

I would talk to the nurse regarding you plan. Say that you don't want to make an issue of it with the home owners association but this is the most expedient solution.

Yes talk to her and just mention you have an extra pan.

Maybe she isn't aware of the leak and a good citizen could tell her about it.

I vote for telling the nurse and offering her the oil pan. She may not have noticed, and might be grateful for the assist.
